Permit Parking

Permit Parking

Due to the efforts of the Civic Center Parking and Traffic Committee during 2000 and 2001 a wonderful opportunity has been presented to residents in South University, Horace Mann, Julian St James and Hensley Neighborhoods. We may now move forward with Residential Permit Parking.

The drive for Residential Permit Parking began in the Spring of 2001 with a mailing with information about permit parking and a mailback card which allowed residents to signify their support of permit parking. Support by 50%+1 of people living and working within the neighborhood is needed for support. This is one of the dramatic changes which came about as a result of the efforts of the Civic Center Parking and Traffic Committee and the numerous area residents who worked with the city to make changes to existing guidelines.

Among the other changes are proof of residency and registration for the cars getting permits, annual renewal, escalating fees for more than 3 cars and a limit on the total number of permits per household.
