| | Code Enforcement Rep for UNC
|
| | Kerry Simpson is the Code Enforcement Rep for UNC.

| | Conversion of 11th St Frat House to Employee Housing
|
| | Shirley Lewis from Mobedshahi Hotel Group gave a presentation on the Hotel's proposal to convert an a vacant Frat house at 11th and San Antonio into single occupancy units for hotel employees.

| | The hotel is looking for a 20-30 year lease for the property. Their plans would be for 45-50 units, with common bath, kitchen and laundry facilities. Parking would be on-site and employees living there would be provided transit passes.

| | UNC neighbors raised several concerns. The primary concern was for parking and ensuring that the project would not further impact the parking problem on 11th street. Proper handling of grabage bins was also a concern. The UNC also wondered whether there would be meeting facilities that the neighborhoods could utilize.

| | The Save San Jose Medical Center Coalition provided an informative presentation on why the Medical Center is needed downtown.
|
| | Greg Miller, Al Traugott, and Roz Dean provided data showing the need for a hospital in the downtown area.
|
| | The coalition plans to start a door-to-door information campaign to spread the word about the proposed closing.
|
| | They are also asking City Council to fund a study on the potential impacts of closing the hospital.

Old Business
| | $300,000 in block grants will be awarded. Notification to grantees should be mailed out shortly.

| | Update review of Council Policy 8-1
|
| | Council Policy on Stop Signs is being reviewed to make it more pedestrian friendly.
|
| | Discussion moved to discuss a meeting with Department of Streets and Traffic director (Wayne Tanda) on need for a stop sign at 6th and Reed.
|
| | Streets and Traffic is working with Cindy's office to explore a number of traffic calming measures on Reed St.
|
| | Discussion moved to a question on returning 10th and 11th Street to two way traffic.
|
| | These streets are part of an on going study on one-way couplets.
|
| | If interested, neighors should attend the Civic Center Project Area Committee (meets every 2nd Tuesday) and the Parking and Traffic Commitee (meets every 3rd Wednesday).

| | Deadline for candidate applications is February 15.
|
| | Ballots will be mailed out March 26 and must be returned by April 24.
|
| | The PAC will be approved by City Council on June 12.

| | Downtown Neighborhood Leadership Forum slate

| | a list of candidates designed to ensure strong representation of downtown neighborhood interests on the PAC.

Announcements
| | 480 S 3rd Street - the proposed development has been selved until the developer can come up with a more neighborhood friendly design.

| | The UNC executive board meeting has been moved to the 4th Wednesday of the month.
|
| | This move will allow board members to provide support for other NACs by reducing conflicting meetings.
|
| | Market/Almaden Neighborhood Association (MANA) asked to join UNC
|
| | UNC has asked the city to provide further details on how this would impact UNC and MANA.
|
| | SNI Revitalization Plan Review

| | Requested that UNC set aside time at meetings to review the University Neighborhoods Revitalization Plan.
