Presentation by SJPD
| | SJPD is working on trying to keep the loitering down, speeding down. Capt. Ferguson is trying to put together his 6 month projects, need neighborhood priorities by end of the week. Questioned about numerous break-ins in the area. Capt. Ferguson reported that three individuals apprehended and there have been increased patrol activity by gang unit cars and unmarked cars, saturating the area with officers.

KB Home development presentation
| | Jonathon Noble reviewed process for acceptance of project (planning process.) Concerned with addressing community needs and desires. KB team: proposing 53 detached single-family homes, two stories from 1700 to 2200 sq feet. Concerned with fitting the project into the neighborhood. Will address community concern at next meeting (re: dust, noise, hours of operation, parking, etc.) Meeting will be on March 29th at San Jose Christian College at 6pm in room A.

| | Ken Podgorsek in response: concerned with the zoning requirements and density impact. Questioned the accuracy of labeling the product a low-density project. Worried about the preservation of the historical element of the neighborhood. Motion: Opposes the GP and Zoning change to any of the single family homes on Orvis, S12th and S11th street because it is inconsistent with our revitalization plan. We oppose the demolition of any historic resource inventory qualifiable single family properties. Seconded by Beth Shafran-Mukai. Passed unanimously by the board.

TKNoodle project.
| | Proposed three story residential above 5000 sqft retail store. Hearing time frame not set in stone. Project proposes the demolition of 4 existing structures at Williams street and 6th. Demolish the Craftsman and two other existing buildings. Underground parking for residents, grade level parking for first floor retail. Two levels of apartments above retail space, 3000 sqft restaurant, two 1000 sqft stores.

| | David Dudek: How involved can we be in determining the use of the stores?

| | Dry cleaners, coffee shop, business that is manned every hour of operation. (No laundrymat), there is not recomendation from the city on this point.

| | Dave Dudek: In order for SUN to put their stamp of approval on the project, they would like to see a committment to Mr. Liu's existing properties farther north up 6th street. Discussion of approval of the project. Project could approach planning commission in two months.

| | Ken Pogorsek: List our opposition to the project now with the understanding that we could change our position in the future Motion: UNC opposes the demolition of the three structures that exist on the historical inventory related to the development on 7th and Williams street (PDC 03101) project.

San Jose Medical Center update
| | public notice for a public scoping meeting march 25th at 6pm. Proposal of expansion of over 1M sqft. Coalition feels that the procedure for expansion should not be continued until the impact study has been completed. Location: City hall room 106E

Neighborhood Grant Program
| | Grant review committee will be reviewing the grants for three criteria. Approve, deny, hold. Many very interesting projects are proposed. $100,000 available funds. Second round for grant application due at April meeting. Applications are available online.

Treasurer's Report
| | Ken Podgorsek presented the treasurers report and explained an error in the report.

SNI PAC update
| | HIghlights: presentation on Alcoholic Beverage Control processes. Budget update presented: waiting to see what will happen. neighborhood project funding committee recommended that some educational seminars be established. PAC continues to have concerns about money

Oral Communication
| | Tom Boehme from Spartan Keyes expressed need for improved surveillance of Garden project. The homeless population has become an overwhelming problem. Neighbors are encouraged to call 911 if loiterers are noticed.
