 Board Members Absent
Nancy Hickey (at large), Lisa Jensen (at large), Sandra Soellner (SUN)
Minutes:
Ken requested an amendment to the November Minutes, under O’Donnell’s Garden’s Update; the approved allocation was $50,000, not $82,000. Minutes from July and November were approved as amended (Beth motioned, Walker seconded). Motion carried.
Ken motioned to continue the June, September, and October minutes to the January meeting (Beth seconded). Motion carried.
Family Giving Tree:
On December 22, Santa will be there from 9-10 AM. There will be 390 kids and 390 presents. We will rent a truck to pick up the presents and lock them in the truck until they are distributed. Cash donations are also encouraged.
Treasurer’s Report:
Our balance has increased $275.45 in the corporate category, $750.00 in the 6th/William park category, and $20.00 in the family giving tree category. We have spent $69.00 in the Administrative Grant category and $10,266.25 in the Neighborhood Improvement Grants category. Our beginning balance was $147,001.83, and our current December balance is $137,712.03.
O’Donnell’s Gardens Park Update:
Gazebo- The city is looking at transferring $38,000 that they are holding to the UNC. Paul Pereira is confident that he can get that done; this gives us more flexibility. Laura: Property owners will meet about the fence/wall behind the park tomorrow at 7:00 PM at Sandra’s. Ken suggested that a trellis and plants could help mitigate the noise; perhaps the property owners would be interested in exploring this option.
SNI PAC Update:
Beth Shafran-Mukai provided a report on the Combined November/December follow-up meeting. The PAC reviewed agenda items and timelines. There were financial challenges to meeting some agenda items. The future of the PAC was also discussed. The PAC would like to request that the city extend the PAC for at least a year to monitor neighborhood projects to completion- that were slowed by the financial challenges. The PAC has formed an Executive committee and a committee on the future of the PAC.
San Jose Medical Center Update:
Pictures of the hospital surrounded by barbed wire and boarded up were circulated. There was discussion about creating a sign that stated “All I want for Christmas is a new hospital.”
Oral Communication:
David Dudek: 6th and Reed Traffic Improvement-
The curb was put in on the south side of Reed. Minor changes were made.
David informed us that the 3rd and 4th Street conversion s coming up. They have asked for last minute changes. They have been very tolerant.
Walker Kellogg inquired about the empty house next to Tom. Walker wanted to know if there was any other contact information for the landlord.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM. Motion to adjourn was made by Ken Pogorsek and seconded by Walker Kellogg. Motion approved.
