Meeting Minutes - January 11, 2005
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM

Minutes:
| | Motion to approve the December minutes was made by Sandra Soellner and seconded by Beth Shafran-Mukai. The motion passed.

| | Approval of past transactions was continued due to Ken Podgorseks absence.
|
Board Changes:
| | Motion to change Walker Kellogg's board position from East Campus representative to At Large representative was made by Beth Shafran-Mukai, seconded by Nancy Hickey. The motion passed.

Establishing Historic Districts in SUN
| | We heard a presentation by architectural historians Franklin Maggi, and Bonnie Montgomery who were retained by the city to assess and make recommendations and prepare for district nomination as historical neighborhood. Meetings with the city staff have been concluded. The initial recommendation is that the areas South of Reed and west of the Lowell Elementary school are clearly national registry eligible. A meeting update will follow as more information is divulged.

Casa Feliz Project - Jack Gardener, President John Stewart Company, Geoff Oberdorfer, Executive Director First Community Housing.
| | The relocation plan is available on our website for review. First Community Housing , wishes to rebuild Casa Feliz with plans to change it to an efficiency complex rather than an SRO with individual kitchens and bathrooms. Change from mentally disabled to developmentally challenged occupants. 59 units with increased parking spaces vs 65 SRO currently.

| | All residents need to be relocated within one year. The next meeting will occur February 1st at the SUN They wish to mix disabled population with mainstream population. Between 35 and 50% will be developmentally challenged with the remainder being mainstream low income. The construction process will be approximately 18 months long.

Treasurer’s Report:
| | Tom Clifton passed out this months balence sheet.

O’Donnell’s Gardens Park Update:
| | Steve Rohmer is going to make the wall work, but will delay the opening of the park by 4 months. Funding sources have been identified for both the gazebo and the wall. The railing will be manufactured by Stewart Iron Works.

SNI PAC Update:
| | Beth Shafran-Mukai had nothing to report.
|
San Jose Medical Center Update:
| | The closure impact study has been accepted by the City. The City of San Jose is vying to acquire the site from HCA.
|
